Peace Dam Auto Campground and Hwacheon Youth Campground to Reopen in April
Easier Access and Rising Popularity Expected Due to Northward Shift of Civilian Control Line
Hwacheon County, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Choi Moon-soon) announced on the 1st that the public campgrounds located in the pristine nature of Hwacheon will complete their preparations for welcoming spring visitors and will simultaneously resume operations in April.
First, the auto campground and caravan campground near the Peace Dam will reopen in April. The campgrounds are fully equipped with restrooms, showers, and drinking fountains, featuring 28 decks, 12 gravel sites, and 10 caravan spots.
Near the Peace Dam campground, there are many security tourism sites such as the Peace Dam, World Peace Bell Park, Bimok Park, Water Culture Center, and International Peace Art Park, making it very popular among campers.

Especially, following the northward shift of the civilian control line by 3.5 km on the 26th of last month, tourists can now pass through Andong Iron Bridge without inspection and quickly reach the campground, which is expected to attract more visitors.
The Hwacheon Youth Campground located in Damok-ri, Sangseo-myeon, Hwacheon County, will also open on the 1st. As the name 'Damok-ri' (meaning 'many trees village') suggests, the area is densely forested, providing a forest bathing effect. It features a spacious playground and a cool valley, making it popular among family campers. Visitors without tents can also stay in pre-installed tents. The 10 decks are equipped with large shade canopies, allowing visitors to feel cool even in the height of summer.
Meanwhile, Mansan-dong National Leisure Campground, a favorite spot among Hwacheon residents, has already started operations since the end of February. The campground is equipped with 22 wooden decks, shower rooms, and washbasins, and is surrounded by dense forests, making it one of the best healing spots for those seeking relaxation. It is so popular that all Saturdays in April are already fully booked.
