Jeollanam-do, in collaboration with Korail, has launched 12 spring-themed "Islands You Want to Visit" train travel packages.
These travel packages focus on five islands, including Yeosu Nangdo and Jindo Gwanmaedo. Various customized programs have been prepared for tourists who wish to enjoy island trips in the spring.
Island travelers will receive incentives of 40,000 to 60,000 KRW per person and a 30% discount on round-trip KTX train fares. The "Island Train Trip" is designed for travelers from inland regions such as Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Chungbuk to visit Jeollanam-do by KTX and enjoy a variety of experiences on the islands.
This year, a new package has been introduced for travelers from Busan and Gyeongnam, connected via the Gyeongjeon Line. The itinerary departs from Busan, passes through Suncheon and Boseong, and then heads to the islands of Jeollanam-do, making travel even more convenient.
The islands included in these packages are Yeosu Nangdo, Gangjin Gaudo, Jindo Gwanmaedo, Sinan Banwol and Bakjido, and Gijeom and Soakdo. The trips are operated as 2-day, 1-night itineraries, with a variety of experience programs highlighting the unique characteristics of each island.
Park Taegun, Director of Island and Marine Policy at Jeollanam-do, said, "As the number of tourists visiting the islands increases, we expect even more people to seek out the 'Islands You Want to Visit' train travel packages. We will continue to expand small-scale island travel products that utilize Jeollanam-do's pristine nature and ecological resources."
Detailed itineraries and reservations for the "Islands You Want to Visit" train travel packages can be found by searching the island names on the Korail website. For more information, travelers can also contact the Korea Railroad Corporation Gwangju Travel Center for detailed guidance.
Last year, a total of 927 travelers visited Jeollanam-do's islands through the island train travel packages. These visitors contributed to the revitalization of the local economy by spending on transportation, accommodation, meals, and other expenses.
