Full Commitment to Creating a Favorable Farming Environment

Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 1st that it has begun a comprehensive inspection of reservoirs and pumping stations to ensure the supply of agricultural water ahead of the full-scale farming season, including trial operations.

On the 27th of last month, County Governor Kim Yuncheol visited the Jukjeon Reservoir, which supplies agricultural water to the Gaya District, together with the Korea Rural Community Corporation Hapcheon Branch, to inspect key facilities such as the intake tower and discharge gates.

Hapcheon County Inspects Major Reservoirs and Pumping Stations Ahead of Farming Season Kim Yunchul, the mayor of Hapcheon County, is inspecting major facilities such as reservoirs and pumping stations.

Jukjeon Reservoir is the core facility for agricultural water in the Gaya District, with a total beneficiary area of 296 hectares. It is the largest reservoir in Hapcheon-gun, with its storage capacity expanded to 4 million cubic meters through a dam heightening project in 2014.

Currently, there are a total of 338 agricultural reservoirs in Hapcheon-gun (254 managed by the county and 85 by the Korea Rural Community Corporation), with an average storage rate of 85.4%. This exceeds the average annual rate of 80%, indicating that sufficient water has been secured for farming activities.

Hapcheon-gun is also preparing countermeasures for areas at risk of drought. The county is strengthening the securing of alternative water sources and monitoring rainfall, while minimizing reservoir discharge volumes to maintain a thorough drought prevention posture.

In addition, various projects are being carried out smoothly to ensure a stable supply of agricultural water, including five pumping station improvement projects (17.5 billion KRW), three old reservoir maintenance projects (3.8 billion KRW), surface water development (5 billion KRW), and more than 50 small-scale agricultural infrastructure maintenance projects (3 billion KRW).

Governor Kim Yuncheol stated, "Hapcheon-gun and the Korea Rural Community Corporation will work closely together to ensure a stable supply of agricultural water this year, so that residents can focus on farming in a secure environment."
