Ulsan City to Support Health of Workers at Workplaces with Fewer Than 50 Employees

Applications accepted from April 1, for workplaces with fewer than 50 employees
80% of musculoskeletal hazard assessment costs subsidized for workers

Ulsan City will provide financial support for musculoskeletal hazard assessments at workplaces with fewer than 50 employees in the region, in order to strengthen industrial accident prevention and health management following the expansion and enforcement of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.

The musculoskeletal hazard assessment aims to identify and eliminate or reduce risk factors in all work processes or departments where musculoskeletal burden tasks are present, with the goal of preventing musculoskeletal disorders.

A "musculoskeletal burden task" refers to one of 11 types of work specified by the Minister of Employment and Labor that involve simple repetition or excessive physical strain, and under the Industrial Safety and Health Act, workplaces are required to assess hazards for these tasks every three years.

The support is available to workplaces in Ulsan with fewer than 50 employees, covering 80% of the assessment cost, up to a maximum of 1 million KRW per workplace.

Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis starting April 1 until the budget is exhausted. Applicants should submit the required documents (such as the musculoskeletal hazard assessment report) specified in the announcement on the Ulsan City website via email to the Ulsan Yangsan Employers' Association.

For further details, please refer to the announcement on the Ulsan City website or contact the Ulsan Yangsan Employers' Association.

An official from Ulsan City stated, "Compared to other regions, Ulsan has a significantly higher rate of industrial accidents caused by occupational diseases, making preventative measures essential. We will prioritize the lives and safety of workers by identifying and reducing hazardous and dangerous factors, and strive to create a safe working environment."
