Gwangju Nam-gu (District Mayor Kim Byungnae) will conduct disinfection and pest control operations for two weeks in residential areas and other hygiene-vulnerable locations to prevent and manage infectious diseases.
According to the district office on the 31st, disinfection to control disease-carrying pests at an early stage will take place in all 17 neighborhoods of the district for about two weeks until the 11th of next month.
This is because the resistance of disease-carrying pests such as flies, mosquitoes, and cockroaches drops sharply during the transition from winter to spring.
The district has organized a rapid response team to proactively eliminate pest larvae and will carry out intensive disinfection throughout all 17 neighborhoods. In particular, disinfection will be conducted at garbage disposal sites near residential areas and studio apartment complexes, as well as at 93 locations in daily life zones, including public restrooms, livestock farms, and streams.
A district official said, "There are forecasts that the heat will begin as early as April this year, so we have no choice but to pay even more attention to disinfection and pest control than usual. We also ask residents to remove puddles near their homes and ensure that water does not collect in discarded tires, flowerpots, and similar items."
