The Welfare Registered Mail Project involves postal workers personally delivering welfare information leaflets, produced by the city, to the homes of marginalized groups. During these visits, they check for signs of crisis, helping to identify individuals in welfare blind spots.

The city has been in close communication with Yangsan Post Office since the beginning of the year to prepare for this project. Efforts have been made to secure the project budget through the supplementary budget, and with the signing of this agreement, the project will be officially launched in April.

According to the agreement, the city will select around 300 households each month that are socially isolated or facing economic crises due to reasons such as unemployment, business closure, or illness. The city will request the post office to send registered mail containing welfare information to these households. Postal workers, during the delivery process, will use a crisis situation checklist to assess the household’s living conditions, housing environment, and any crisis situations, and will report the findings back to the city.

Based on this information, welfare officers in each town and neighborhood will provide tailored counseling and support.

The registered mail will include: ▲ an introduction to major welfare programs ▲ information about the welfare crisis identification and reporting app ▲ contact information for local welfare officers, enabling households in crisis to quickly seek help.

Mayor Na Dongyeon stated, "We have high expectations that the Welfare Registered Mail Project will effectively identify households in crisis and those who are socially isolated in advance. Starting with this agreement, we will continue to work with related organizations and the local community to build a tighter social safety net and eliminate welfare blind spots."
