Celebrating the UNESCO Inscription of "Jang Making"
Sunchang County in North Jeolla Province is holding a slogan contest to commemorate the inscription of 'Jang Making' as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and to encapsulate the identity of the Sunchang Jangryu Festival, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

According to the county on the 31st, the contest aims to discover a slogan that succinctly expresses the unique value of the Sunchang Jangryu Festival, where a thousand-year tradition of fermentation wisdom blends with modern sensibilities.
The contest will run for about three weeks until the 14th of next month, and anyone can participate regardless of age or region. The content should be a slogan of 20 characters or less that encapsulates the history of the Sunchang Jangryu Festival, the value of traditional jang culture, and the enjoyment of the festival. Those wishing to participate can download the application form from the county office website or the official Sunchang Jangryu Festival website, fill it out, and submit it online.
The submitted works will be rigorously evaluated by a panel of experts, who will comprehensively assess originality, relevance, popularity, and applicability to select the final winners. A total of five winners will be chosen through this review, with awards and prize money given to one Grand Prize winner, one First Prize winner, one Excellence Award winner, and two Encouragement Award winners.

County Governor Choi Youngil stated, "The Sunchang Jangryu Festival is preparing to welcome domestic and international tourists with more abundant programs than ever," and added, "I hope that the creative ideas of the public gathered through this slogan contest will become new wings to spread the value of Sunchang's jang culture to the world."
Meanwhile, the Sunchang Jangryu Festival, as Korea's representative traditional jang festival, plays an important role in promoting traditional jang culture to many visitors every year through a variety of experiences and cultural events.
