Five Libraries in Deogyang-gu to Host One-Day Reading Discussions
Madu Library to Hold "Mini Reading Golden Bell" Event
Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) will operate Library Week for one week from April 12 to 18 to commemorate Library Day.
According to Goyang Special City on the 31st, this Library Week, under the theme "Planting the Seeds of Dreams, Buried in the Library," will offer various events to promote the joy of reading and activate library use among citizens.
Distinctive Reading Culture Programs by DistrictGoyang City plans to provide new experiences to citizens by operating various reading culture programs in its three districts.
In Deogyang-gu, Hwajeong, Haengsin, Samsong, Sinwon, and Nopbit Libraries will hold the ‘Choose According to My Taste! One-Day Reading Discussion’ event. It will run for five days starting April 4, featuring in-depth discussions on themed books led by author Yoon Sun-hee and reading culture planner Kwon In-geol. Additionally, schema reading classes for children will be held at Haengsin Children’s Library and Hwajeong Children’s Library.
In Ilsandong-gu, Madu Library will host ‘I Am the Reading King! Mini Reading Golden Bell’ on April 12, and Siksa Library will operate a photo zone where visitors can take pictures dressed as characters from fairy tales. Furthermore, Aram Nuri Library and Pungdong Library will offer the ‘Barefoot Reading Forest Trail’ experience program.
In Ilsanseo-gu, Daehwa, Hanmoe, Deogi, Gajwa, Ilsan, and Juyeop Children’s Libraries will run the ‘One Meal Book Rice’ program. This reading experience event divides participants into categories such as big eater, light eater, and fasting eater based on their reading volume or interest, and participants can also engage in bookbinding production or cooking experiences.
Various Events Including Book Taste Guide and Overdue Clearance EventDuring Library Week in Goyang City, the comprehensive reference rooms of 15 libraries will operate the ‘Library Book Taste Guide’ program. Citizens can classify books by sweet, salty, spicy flavors, etc., to discover their reading preferences and share their favorite books on event banners.
Also, in the children’s reference rooms of 18 libraries, the ‘Special Prescription Program Just for You’ will be held. Children can enhance their understanding of reading by reading picture books and writing prescriptions suitable for the protagonists of those books.
In cooperation with the Goyang Cultural Foundation, an event titled ‘Find Jeokbyeok in 900’ linked to the pansori musical ‘Jeokbyeok’ will be prepared. If visitors find a specific bookmark in history books numbered 900 in the library, they can receive discounts on the performance.
Meanwhile, for overdue book borrowers, the ‘Day 1 of Overdue Clearance Starting Today’ event will also be held. During Library Week, if all overdue books are returned, a special benefit of clearing the overdue status will be provided.
Applications for participation in Goyang City Library Week programs began on the 27th, and detailed information can be obtained by contacting each library or checking the Goyang City Library website.
