King Charles III of the United Kingdom expressed his condolences and sympathy for the large-scale wildfire damage in the Gyeongnam and Gyeongbuk regions.
On the 30th (local time), King Charles III conveyed in a message of condolence through the British Embassy in Korea, "My wife, Queen Camilla, and I were deeply shocked by the news of the wildfires," adding, "I remember the warm hospitality shown by the people of this region when my mother made a state visit in 1999."
King Charles III's mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, visited Andong during her state visit to Korea in 1999.
King Charles III said it is difficult to gauge the scale of the damage caused by the wildfires, the suffering of those severely affected, and the impact on Korea's cultural heritage, stating, "I send my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and especially pray for all those who have lost their homes."
He also emphasized, "I think of the very brave emergency responders and communities providing support and assistance in these difficult and dangerous circumstances."
