European Daylight Saving Time Begins... Time Difference Between Central Europe and Korea Changes from 8 to 7 Hours

As of the 30th (local time), Europe's Daylight Saving Time (DST) for this year has begun.

The time difference between countries using Central European Time (CET) such as France, Germany, and Belgium, and Korea will decrease from 8 hours to 7 hours.

The time difference between western European countries like the United Kingdom and Portugal and Korea will decrease from 9 hours to 8 hours, while the difference with eastern countries such as Finland and Greece will change from 7 hours to 6 hours.

Daylight Saving Time is implemented with the purpose of saving energy and promoting economic activities by making better use of daylight during the longer days.

Although countries adopted DST at different times, the European Union (EU) standardized it in 1996, starting DST on the last Sunday of March and ending it on the last Sunday of October.

However, there have been ongoing criticisms that changing the time is inconvenient, the one-hour reduction in sleep on the day DST begins can affect health, and the energy-saving effects are minimal.
