Candidate Lee Jaejong: "I Will Open the Era of Same-Day Rocket Delivery in Damyang"

Jaejong Lee, Democratic Party of Korea Candidate for Damyang County Governor.

Lee Jaejong, the Democratic Party candidate for Damyang County Governor, announced on the 30th, "I will significantly improve the convenience of life for Damyang residents by enabling Coupang's same-day Rocket Delivery service in Damyang."

According to candidate Lee, Coupang Logistics Service (hereafter Coupang CLS), a delivery subsidiary of Coupang, is planning to establish a sub-hub (an intermediate logistics facility that sends products from the logistics center to delivery camps) in Jangseong County, Jeollanam-do, to expand Rocket Delivery in the Honam region.

Coupang CLS signed an investment agreement with Jangseong County last January to build a new sub-hub worth 15 billion KRW, and a facility of about 13,200 square meters will be constructed in Yongheung-ri, Seosam-myeon, Jangseong County. The delivery area for the Jangseong sub-hub will include Gwangju, Naju, Suncheon, Yeosu, Mokpo, and Muan County in the Honam region, but Damyang is not currently included in this area.

Candidate Lee plans to negotiate with Coupang to have Damyang included in the delivery area of the Jangseong sub-hub. While Coupang currently offers Rocket Delivery in most areas, some island and mountainous regions, including Damyang, are excluded from this service due to delivery restrictions.

Rocket Delivery is a service that provides fast delivery within 24 hours, with Coupang directly delivering products from its own logistics centers to customers. Depending on the order, products can be delivered on the same night, the same day, or the next day, which is much faster than standard delivery that usually takes 2 to 5 days.

Candidate Lee stated, "Until now, Damyang residents had no choice but to wait 2 to 5 days to receive products ordered from Coupang," and added, "If negotiations with Coupang go well, the convenience of daily life for residents will be greatly improved. I will do my best to ensure that Damyang is no longer left out of logistics service benefits."

Candidate Lee was born in Subuk-myeon, Damyang County, and has served as a Blue House administrator, Democratic Party deputy spokesperson, chief spokesperson for Moon Jaein's presidential campaign in Gwangju, and director of policy media at the Democratic Party's Gwangju City branch. Recently, he was appointed as the chairman of the Democratic Party's Damyang County Tourism Industry Development Special Committee.

Meanwhile, the main voting for the Damyang County Governor election will be held on April 2 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., and voters must bring identification to cast their ballots.
