On the 28th, the Women's Safety Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency stated, "We conducted an attendance investigation of former lawmaker Jang and will continue the investigation after comprehensively reviewing related testimonies and evidence."
Former lawmaker Jang is accused of sexual violence (quasi-rape causing injury) against his secretary, Ms. A, in November 2015, when he was the vice president of a university in the Busan area. Ms. A reportedly drank alcohol at a gathering after taking election posters for Jang's upcoming general election campaign, and later testified to the police that Jang had sexually assaulted her.
Former lawmaker Jang has denied the sexual assault allegations made by Ms. A, stating that they never occurred.
