The wildfire that began in the Andong area on the 24th rapidly spread due to strong winds and dry weather, causing significant damage, including the complete destruction of homes and facilities in seven towns and villages. As a result, the city has decided to cancel the festival and sports event to focus on recovery efforts.

In particular, although the Chajeonjanggun Nogukgongju Festival was highly anticipated by citizens, the decision was made to cancel it in order to concentrate all efforts on recovering from the wildfire damage.

The citizens' sports event, originally scheduled for May 3, will be rescheduled depending on the progress of recovery from the wildfire damage.

An official from Andong City stated, "We regret the inconvenience caused to citizens and tourists who were looking forward to the spring festival," and added, "We will do our utmost to help citizens affected by the wildfire return to their daily lives as quickly as possible."

Meanwhile, as of 2 p.m. on the 28th, the wildfire was 90% contained, and Andong City is focusing on recovery efforts.
