Recently, large-scale wildfires have occurred nationwide, and concerns about their spread have increased due to strong winds and dry weather. As a result, the Korea Forest Service issued a 'Severe' level national crisis alert for wildfire disasters on the 25th.
On this day, Mayor Lee Dong-hwan toured the wildfire situation control system, wildfire surveillance CCTV, and wildfire site video monitoring system, and received reports on the tasks being carried out to prepare for large-scale wildfires.
At the meeting, Mayor Lee emphasized that since 30% of Goyang is surrounded by forests and there are many cultural heritages such as Bukhansan National Park, Seooreung, and Seosamneung, patrols in wildfire-prone areas should be strengthened, and close cooperation with related organizations is essential to do their best in wildfire prevention.
Currently, Goyang City has established the wildfire prevention headquarters since January 24, deploying wildfire suppression helicopters and firefighting vehicles, and organizing firefighting personnel such as specialized wildfire prevention and suppression teams to carry out wildfire prevention and suppression activities.
