Buan County Recruiting First 50 Participants for 'Mobile Healthcare' Program

For Buan County residents and local workers aged 19 to 64

Buan County Public Health Center in Jeollabuk-do is recruiting 50 participants on a first-come, first-served basis for its 'Mobile Healthcare Project,' a personal health management service based on ICT (Information and Communication Technology).

According to the county on the 28th, this project utilizes a mobile app and an activity tracker (smart band) to enable two-way communication with experts for activity and diet management without visiting the center. Over a six-month period, participants receive health habit monitoring and health information.

Eligible participants are Buan County residents and local workers aged 19 to 64 who have at least one of five health risk factors (blood pressure, fasting blood sugar, waist circumference, triglycerides, HDL cholesterol). However, individuals already diagnosed with or taking medication for hypertension, diabetes, or hyperlipidemia are excluded.

Residents wishing to participate must visit the Health Lifestyle Support Center in person from the 1st to the 30th of next month to undergo physical measurements and a basic health check-up. Those selected as participants will then be able to receive the service.

Participants will be provided with an activity tracker compatible with the mobile app, so only those who own a smartphone can apply. Please note that depending on the type of personal mobile phone, those whose devices are not compatible with the activity tracker may be excluded from participation.

This project, which Buan County was the first among rural health centers to launch in 2016, has been evaluated by participants as a well-structured program that effectively improves the health management abilities of residents with chronic disease risk factors without time or location constraints.

An official from Buan County Public Health Center stated, "As the rate of medical use for chronic diseases increases rapidly every year, this project is perfect for busy modern people because it allows for non-face-to-face health management and the correction of health habits. We hope for much participation and interest," adding, "We will continue to do our best to foster a culture of healthy living practices among residents."
