Busan Academic Development Institute Launches Hope Pium Teacher Activities This Year

Appointment of 53 Hope-Pium Teachers and Capacity-Building Training on April 1
Customized On-Site Support for Students with Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and Borderline Intelligence

The Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education Academic Achievement Development Institute (Director Kim Hyesun) will hold an appointment ceremony and capacity-building training for 53 Hope-Pium Teachers at the Basic Academic Support Center of the Institute on April 1.

'Hope-Pium Teachers' are educators who provide one-on-one customized learning support to students facing learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, or borderline intelligence, helping to nurture hope in students for learning.

During this event, 31 teachers who have previously guided students with special learning needs and 22 teachers who have completed the 2024 basic training course for teaching students with special learning needs will be appointed as Hope-Pium Teachers. The event will also include an introduction to the Busan Basic Academic Support Center's learning support program and training on 'Understanding and Utilizing Diagnostic Tools,' aiming to enhance capabilities related to basic academic instruction.

The appointed teachers will conduct in-depth diagnostic assessments for students requiring learning support in the Busan region starting in April. Based on the assessment results, they will collaborate with the students' homeroom teachers and guardians to provide tailored learning support for those identified with special factors.

Kim Hyesun, Director of the Academic Achievement Development Institute, stated, "This event marks the beginning of the 'Pium Journey,' where students with special factors discover hope in learning and realize their dreams," and added, "We will continue to support children to ensure their basic academic skills and healthy growth."
