A Total Fund of 2 Billion KRW Established
Additional Donations Raised for Wildfire Relief in Ulsan, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam
Shinhan Financial Group announced on the 28th that it will raise an additional 1 billion KRW in donations to support wildfire damage relief in the Ulsan, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam regions, creating a total fund of 2 billion KRW.
On the 23rd, Shinhan Financial recognized the severity of the wildfire damage and pledged 1 billion KRW in donations. However, due to strong winds and other factors, the wildfire spread further, making containment difficult and increasing the damage, leading to the decision to raise an additional 1 billion KRW. The funds will be used to assist disaster victims as well as firefighters and public officials who died or were injured during the firefighting efforts.
Additionally, through the employee participation social contribution activity called the 'Leading by Example Relay,' donations will be collected and used for disaster recovery. Volunteer activities for damaged forest restoration and systematic support for disaster victims and injured wildfire firefighters will be provided continuously to help affected residents return to stable daily lives.
Chairman Jin Ok-dong stated, "All group companies of Shinhan Financial will unite their efforts to support the swift recovery of disaster victims in the affected areas and the public officials who worked hard to contain the fires."
Meanwhile, on the 23rd, along with raising the 1 billion KRW fund, Shinhan Financial announced financial and non-financial support measures such as new loans, maturity extensions, and installment payment deferrals for small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners affected by the disaster.
