National Hangeul Museum to Hold 'Dialect Concert' on the 29th
Hangeul Booth Open Until April 6
Various Experience Events Prepared
The National Hangeul Museum of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 28th that it will hold the 'Visiting Dialect Story Concert' on the 29th at the outdoor special stage at Jungwon Rotary, Jinhae-gu, Changwon Special City.
The concert was planned to widely share the value of dialects in connection with the National Hangeul Museum's 10th anniversary special exhibition, 'Can't Resist Dialects!' Following last year's Gangneung Dano Festival and Jeju Tamna Cultural Festival, it aims to raise awareness of the importance of dialects at the Jinhae Gunhangje Festival.
This event features writers Kwon Young-ran and Jo Kyung-guk, who write in the Gyeongnam dialect, and a talk show by the Changwon City Hall New Media Team, which produces regional promotional videos. There will also be a Gyeongnam dialect children's song choir performance by the Jinhae Angelus Boys and Girls Choir, a hand calligraphy performance by writer Jung Yoon-hee, and a dialect folk song performance by the modern gugak band Talpi.
The Hangeul culture experience booth will welcome visitors at the outdoor event site near Jungwon Rotary during the Jinhae Gunhangje Festival until April 6. Corners such as dialect quizzes, making your own dialect pouch, and keychain crafting are prepared.
Kang Jeong-won, director of the National Hangeul Museum, said, "Through this event, we hope you will feel the taste and charm of the Gyeongnam dialect, which contains the history and culture of the Gyeongnam region," and added, "Please look forward to the 'Visiting Dialect Story Concert' Suncheon edition to be held at the end of October this year."
