500 Snack Portions Delivered to On-Site Personnel and Local Residents Working to Suppress the Wildfire
Many Comforted; Operation Extended by One More Day After Early Depletion of Snacks
Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jung Won-oh) dispatched a snack truck filled with warm condolences to Uiseong-gun, Gyeongbuk, which suffered great damage from a wildfire.
Uiseong-gun, Gyeongbuk, was recently declared a special disaster area due to the wildfire, causing significant damage. Accordingly, on March 26, the district delivered coffee, beverages, hot dogs, and other snacks for about 500 people to disaster victims suffering from the wildfire, as well as firefighters and soldiers working hard to extinguish the fire on site.
The Seongdong-gu Volunteer Center (Chairman Bae Moon-chan) arrived at the Gyeongbuk Uiseong Regional Self-Support Center around 10 a.m. after starting early in the morning, delivering warm tea and snacks prepared with small sincerity, helping the on-site personnel momentarily forget the fatigue of firefighting efforts.
Many people expressed their gratitude at the scene that day, and the snacks were quickly consumed in an atmosphere of mutual consolation. Upon hearing the news of the early depletion, the district decided to extend the operation of the snack truck for one more day on the 27th to support recovery efforts.
Seongdong-gu also sent a ‘Love Snack Truck’ to Uljin-gun, a wildfire-affected area on the East Coast, in March 2022, conveying support for recovery efforts.
Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “I thank everyone on site who is doing their utmost to suppress the fire, and I extend my deepest condolences to the local residents. I hope this fire will subside soon and that everyone’s daily lives can fully return.”
