Lee Jaejong: "Promoting Relocation of Daejeon-myeon Jeonchapo Shooting Range in Damyang"

Request to Central Party for Inclusion as a Presidential Pledge in the Event of an Early Election
"Democratic Party One Team... The Right Time to Resolve Long-Standing Regional Projects"

Lee Jaejong: "Promoting Relocation of Daejeon-myeon Jeonchapo Shooting Range in Damyang" Jaejong Lee, Democratic Party candidate for Damyang County governor.

Lee Jaejong, the Democratic Party candidate for Damyang County Governor, announced on the 27th, "I have requested the Democratic Party headquarters to include the relocation of the tank artillery firing range in Daejeon-myeon, Damyang, as a presidential election pledge."

On the 26th, following a statement on Democratic Party leader Lee Jaemyung's 'not guilty' verdict, Lee met with officials from the party headquarters and requested that the long-standing project of relocating the tank artillery firing range in Daejeon-myeon, Damyang, be included as a presidential pledge in the anticipated early presidential election after the impeachment of Yoon Sukyeol on charges of rebellion.

The Daejeon-myeon tank artillery firing range is a military training facility spanning approximately 3.05 million square meters, or about 92,000 pyeong, established in 1954. In 1993, a relocation countermeasure committee was formed to demand its relocation, and in 2003, a joint civilian-government-military council was also established to discuss the matter.

Although this has been a long-cherished project for Damyang County, it has seen little progress. However, following the recent accidental shelling incident in Pocheon, public opinion for integrated management and safety oversight of training grounds has grown, and it is known that the Ministry of National Defense is currently conducting integrated management and safety monitoring of firing ranges.

Lee stated, "Now is the right time to push for the relocation," and emphasized, "With the growing momentum for a change of government to the Democratic Party following Lee Jaemyung's 'not guilty' verdict, we must ensure that large-scale national projects for Damyang's development are included as pledges from the early stages of preparation for the early presidential election."

Lee further argued, "Large-scale national projects such as the relocation of the tank artillery firing range can only be accomplished by a Democratic Party president, Democratic Party members of the National Assembly and governor, and a Democratic Party county governor."
