Appeals to Korean Churches for Fundraising Participation
"Let Us Stand With Those Who Weep"
The Korea Christian Federation, a incorporated association, recently expressed condolences through a pastoral letter from its representative chairman regarding the large-scale wildfire damage. It also announced that it will actively carry out fundraising and support activities for recovery.
In the pastoral letter issued in the name of Representative Chairman Pastor Kim Jong-hyuk, the Korea Christian Federation stated, “We extend our deepest condolences to our neighbors affected by the wildfires,” and “We especially seek God’s great comfort for the families of the victims.”
It continued, “We pay tribute to the efforts of government officials, firefighters, police officers, and volunteers who are dedicated to firefighting, rescue, relief, and recovery, and we pray for the health and safety of all.”
It urged member denominations to participate in fundraising activities. Chairman Kim said, “Please empathize with and comfort the suffering residents. Do not criticize them with any words or actions, but open your hearts by empathizing with those who are suffering. Pray to God and find ways to help.”
The Korea Christian Federation previously built and donated 54 houses for recovery from the 2022 Uljin and Samcheok wildfires. Since then, it has participated in reconstruction projects for the Turkey earthquake ongoing since 2023.
