At 17, Kim Sae-ron's family reveals KakaoTalk messages with Kim Soo-hyun, stating "We do not want a battle over the truth"

The family of the late actress Kim Sae-ron held a press conference, claiming that the deceased dated Kim Soo-hyun when she was a minor at the age of 17.

On the 27th at 1:30 PM, Bu Ji-seok, the legal representative from the law firm Buyu representing the family, stated at a press conference held at Space Share Gangnam Station Center in Seocho-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, "The family is suffering from extreme anxiety and mental distress," adding, "We do not want any more meaningless disputes over the truth after this point."

To put an end to the controversy, Attorney Bu presented evidence by revealing text messages exchanged between Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun during her lifetime. The disclosed messages showed Kim Sae-ron sending a heart emoticon and a "kiss" to Kim Soo-hyun, to which Kim Soo-hyun replied, "Do it for real later."

Additionally, Kim Sae-ron sent, "Do you want to see me or not?" and Kim Soo-hyun responded, "I wouldn't want to see you. I want to see you." On another day, when Kim Soo-hyun messaged, "When can I hold you and fall asleep?" "I think I'll sleep well," "Will it take about a year?" "Three years?" Kim Sae-ron replied, "I'll do it when I want to. There's no such thing."

The family stated that Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron had been in a long-term relationship since they were minors, but Kim Soo-hyun's side claims they dated for one year after Kim Sae-ron became an adult. Referring to the text messages, Attorney Bu said, "At that time, Kim Sae-ron was 17 years old," and asked, "If this relationship is not a dating relationship, then what kind of relationship could it be?"

However, the press conference emphasized that its purpose was not to reveal the reasons behind the deceased's passing. Attorney Bu said, "YouTuber A has been making the family suffer by daily exposing the deceased's private life and spreading false information after being sued." He added, "The reason for revealing that Kim Soo-hyun dated Kim Sae-ron since she was a minor was to sue A." He also conveyed, "The family does not want any further disputes over the truth."

The family has filed a complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency against YouTuber A for defamation based on false information. Attorney Bu announced plans to additionally sue YouTuber A for stalking charges.

The family also claims that after a drunk driving accident in 2022, Kim Soo-hyun pressured them psychologically by sending two certified letters demanding repayment of 700 million won in drama penalty fees that he had paid on their behalf.

Attorney Bu revealed text messages exchanged between the deceased and a friend around the time she received the certified letters. In the disclosed conversation, Kim Sae-ron lamented, "I have nothing, and they’re telling me to just kill myself," and "The contract states that the company (Golden Medalist) should cover 30% of the 70-30 split, but they made me sign a contract to pay 100%, so they scammed me."

When Kim Sae-ron received the certified letters, she reportedly tried to deliver a handwritten letter to Kim Soo-hyun but was unable to do so because she could not enter his apartment. The letter was also made public.

Attorney Bu said, "False rumors that the family revealed the relationship with Kim Soo-hyun for financial gain are being indiscriminately spread," adding, "The family believes that the deceased self-harmed by cutting her wrist due to extreme anxiety after receiving the certified letters. What parent could just lie down at home knowing this?"
