Gwangju Nam-gu Provides Tailored Lifelong Learning Support at Village Happiness Learning Center

Gwangju Nam-gu District (District Mayor Kim Byungnae) announced on the 27th that it will operate the "Hope Learning Center in Our Neighborhood" program at 11 Village Happiness Learning Centers in the region until the end of this year, in order to support community-based lifelong learning at the village level.


Nam-gu will present 20 programs at the Village Happiness Learning Centers in the region from next month through December. The Happiness Learning Centers in each village are located at administrative welfare centers or village community centers in Yangnim-dong, Bangnim 2-dong, Bongseon 1 and 2-dong, Sajik-dong, Wolsan 4 and 5-dong, Baegun 1-dong, Juwol 2-dong, and Hyodeok-dong, including the Nam-gu Lifelong Learning Center as the main hub.


At the Nam-gu Lifelong Learning Center, four programs will be offered until October: Fun Dance, Canva Design Class, Level 1 Career and Vocational Counseling Instructor Training, Ukulele, and Healing Tea Ceremony. The Yangnim-dong Happiness Learning Center will offer Wildflower and Salsa/Bachata Dance classes.


The Bangnim 2-dong Happiness Learning Center will operate Lunchbox and Home Party Cooking Classes, as well as a program for beginners in Jaetongsil. The Bongseon 1 and 2-dong Happiness Learning Centers will offer Taekkyeon Life Gymnastics, Dementia Prevention for Happy Aging, and Smartphone Utilization programs for residents.


The Sajik-dong Happiness Learning Center will host Traditional Wedding and Humanities classes, while the Wolsan 4 and 5-dong Happiness Learning Centers will offer Healing Health Gymnastics, Foot Condition Management, and Wellness Health Exercise programs.


At the Baegun 1-dong, Juwol 2-dong, and Hyodeok-dong Happiness Learning Centers, programs such as Digital Literacy Education, Cooking with Mom and Me, and Handwriting Art will also be conducted.


The learning center programs held in each village are free of charge. Residents who wish to participate in lifelong learning can visit the Happiness Learning Center in their village or call the center to submit an application form.


An official from Nam-gu stated, "Since the programs at each Happiness Learning Center are operated based on the needs of each village, it is important to note that priority will be given to residents living in the respective neighborhoods," and added, "We will strive to promote active exchanges and communication among residents through learning."
