Jeollanam-do announced on the 27th that, in order to identify the real difficulties faced by victims of rental fraud and the necessary support measures, an online survey will be conducted for victims and residents of the province until April 8, under the supervision of the Jeonnam Housing Welfare Center.
As of the end of February, 979 reports of damage have been received in Jeollanam-do, of which 685 cases have been recognized as rental fraud. Most victims of rental fraud are socially vulnerable groups such as young adults starting their careers, youth, and newlyweds, making tailored support and preventive measures for them urgently needed.
Accordingly, through this survey, the Jeonnam Housing Welfare Center plans to: ▲review the introduction of one-stop customized support measures in legal, financial, housing, and administrative areas for victims ▲use the results as basic data for establishing rental fraud prevention and support policies by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Jeollanam-do ▲and develop plans for operating mobile housing welfare centers.
The survey is conducted online. It consists of a total of 21 questions, including basic information such as type and amount of damage, preferred support policies in legal, financial, housing, and administrative areas, and preferences for mobile housing welfare center services.
The Jeonnam Housing Welfare Center, in cooperation with the Jeonnam Land Management Division, is conducting rental fraud prevention education for young people. The program invites expert instructors from the Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG) to provide guidance on ▲the concept and types of rental fraud ▲precautions and prevention methods when signing a rental contract ▲major cases of rental fraud ▲and how to respond if damage occurs. About 400 young people from Mokpo University, Dongshin University, and Sehan University have participated in the training, and additional sessions are scheduled for three universities in the eastern region, including Gwangyang, Suncheon, and Yeosu, in April.
