A hub center will be established to preserve the ecological resources of Baengnyeongdo and Daecheongdo, the northernmost islands in the West Sea, and to attract tourists.
Incheon City announced on the 27th that construction has begun on the Baengnyeong Ecotourism Experience Center and the Baengnyeong-Daecheong Geopark Center on Baengnyeongdo and Daecheongdo, respectively, with completion targeted for next year.
The Baengnyeong Ecotourism Center will operate as a hub facility for ecological education, experience, and research to preserve the habitat of the endangered spotted seal. The center will include an observation deck, exhibition space, and educational facilities to raise awareness of Baengnyeongdo's unique ecological environment and the importance of protecting the spotted seal.

The Baengnyeong-Daecheong Geopark Center will be established as a comprehensive hub facility for tourism resources to obtain UNESCO Global Geopark certification for the Baengnyeongdo and Daecheongdo Geoparks.
Reflecting the characteristics of Daecheongdo, located at the northernmost point of the West Sea, the city plans to develop geological tourism programs, attract tourists to revitalize the local economy, and provide cultural and leisure spaces for residents.
An official from Incheon City stated, "Baengnyeongdo and Daecheongdo have the potential to be globally recognized for their geological and ecological value," adding, "We will strive to build sustainable tourism infrastructure so that these areas can develop into world-class destinations."
