Incheon City announced on the 27th that from next month 1st to November 30th, the operation of Grade 5 diesel vehicles will be continuously restricted throughout Incheon (including only Yeongheung-myeon in Ongjin-gun).
The restriction applies to Grade 5 diesel vehicles registered in Incheon City that have not complied with low-emission measures orders or have failed the detailed emission inspection.
However, vehicles for which diesel particulate filters have not been developed and thus cannot be installed are excluded from enforcement. Also, vehicles with a soot concentration of 10% or less in the detailed vehicle inspection or those with plans for early scrapping within one year may be granted enforcement deferral with city approval.
If a vehicle is caught operating without a diesel particulate filter for the first time, a warning will be issued, and if caught two or more times, a fine of 200,000 KRW per violation will be imposed. However, even if violations exceed once within a month, the fine will be imposed only once.
Details on the operation restrictions for Grade 5 diesel vehicles can be found on the Incheon City Hall website. Vehicle emission grade inquiries can be made through the Comprehensive Vehicle Emission Computer System (mecar.or.kr) or by phone (032-114).
