Pursuing Copper Mark Certification
at Malaysian Plant

Lotte Energy Materials announced on the 27th that its factory located in Malaysia is pursuing certification under the Copper Mark, the responsible sourcing certification system of the International Copper Association (ICA). Through this certification, the company plans to secure reliability as a battery materials supplier and establish strong business relationships with global clients.

The Copper Mark, established in 2019, is the only global Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) certification system in the copper industry. It is awarded to companies that protect the environment and human rights throughout all processes from ore mining to product manufacturing and sales, while adhering to local community coexistence and ethical management.

The Malaysian factory has been operating a copper foil production plant since 2019 and has received positive responses from global clients emphasizing ESG management, particularly by utilizing hydropower, one of the renewable energy sources.

Lotte Energy Materials plans to meet the Copper Mark certification requirements after over a year of preparation and expand strong business relationships with global clients.

Meanwhile, Lotte Energy Materials established and operates an ESG Committee in 2023 to proactively respond to sustainability, ESG requirements, and international standards. Through decision-making on key issues such as climate response, human rights, and global supply chains, the company is building an efficient response system.
