The Pocheon~Sejong Expressway (2nd Gyeongbu Expressway) section from Guri to Anseong (72.2 km) will open on January 1, 2025, making travel to Seoul, Yongin, and Anseong much more convenient.
The Sejong~Pocheon Expressway is a large-scale highway stretching a total of 176.3 km from Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province to Sejong Special Self-Governing City. The Anseong~Yongin~Guri section has 6 lanes in both directions, allowing vehicles to reach from Anseong to Guri via Yongin in just 39 minutes. Using existing roads generally takes 88 minutes, reducing travel time by 49 minutes compared to the previous duration. The Anseong~Sejong section (59.5 km) is scheduled to open by the end of 2026.
This will dramatically improve accessibility to major metropolitan cities and is expected to bring economic ripple effects such as reducing logistics costs for the Yongin semiconductor industrial complex. It is also anticipated to alleviate traffic congestion on the Gyeongbu Expressway and Jungbu Expressway and play an important role in the development of the southeastern metropolitan area.
The opening of the Guri~Anseong Expressway has also brought a halo effect to the real estate market in the areas along the route.
