The assets of Kim Dae-jin, President of the Korea National University of Arts, were confirmed to have increased by 5,558,970,000 KRW within one year. This was attributed to a sharp rise in the valuation of unlisted stocks owned by his spouse.
According to the "2025 Regular Asset Changes of High-ranking Public Officials" published on the 27th in the electronic gazette by the Government Public Officials Ethics Committee, President Kim reported a total asset amount of 22,177,150,000 KRW for himself and his spouse. Last year, Kim reported assets worth 16,618,190,000 KRW.
The total assets reported by President Kim this time were the highest among heads of public-related organizations, and the increase in assets was the third largest among all reporters.
The reason for the sharp increase in President Kim's assets is that the valuation of unlisted stocks owned by his spouse increased by 5,843,880,000 KRW. The reported value of unlisted stocks held by his spouse surged from 8,897,970,000 KRW to 14,741,830,000 KRW. President Kim reported that his spouse owns 4,000 shares of S&Food Co., Ltd., 33,897 shares of S&Food Inc., and 4,000 shares of Biotree Inc.
President Kim also disclosed that he owns a multi-family house in Bangbae-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, valued at approximately 1,095,500,000 KRW. His spouse owns a commercial building in Banpo-dong, Seocho-gu (7,682,800,000 KRW) and a multi-family house in Bangbae-dong, Seocho-gu (1,095,500,000 KRW).
Deposits were reported as 398,690,000 KRW in his name, 3,560,000,000 KRW in his spouse's name, and 280,370,000 KRW in his mother's name.
Jeon Su-yong, President of the Korea Literature Translation Institute, reported assets of 6,415,500,000 KRW, a decrease of 13,056,820,000 KRW compared to the previous year. This was the second largest decrease among all reporters. The significant reduction was due to his mother, who reported assets worth 13,169,190,000 KRW last year, refusing to disclose her assets citing independent livelihood maintenance.
Kim Sung-hee, Director of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, reported assets of 9,587,680,000 KRW; Choi Bo-geun, former Director of the International Cultural Promotion Policy Office at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, reported 8,683,280,000 KRW; Kim Hee-seop, Director of the National Library of Korea, reported 4,919,100,000 KRW; Kim Tae-jung, President of the International Broadcasting Exchange Foundation, reported 4,654,590,000 KRW; and Park Jeong-ryeol, President of the Korea Copyright Protection Agency, reported 4,170,240,000 KRW in assets.
