Dongjak-gu Supports Cleaning Specialists at 73 Daycare Centers

Up to 1.6 Million KRW Annually for Professional Cleaning at Daycare Centers
Dongjak-gu to Enhance Childcare Environments with Outsourced Services

Dongjak-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Il-ha) announced on the 27th that it will support professional cleaning personnel at local daycare centers to create a pleasant childcare environment and help childcare staff focus solely on their core duties.

Dongjak-gu Supports Cleaning Specialists at 73 Daycare Centers Park Il-ha, Mayor of Dongjak District, visited the municipal Isu Daycare Center last February and toured the facilities. Provided by Dongjak District.

Currently, most daycare centers have auxiliary staff (childcare helpers, senior job workers) performing internal environment improvement tasks, but there have been ongoing calls for professional personnel due to difficulties in managing areas such as exterior wall cleaning and disinfection.

Accordingly, the district will provide up to 1.6 million KRW annually to 73 daycare centers with a capacity of 40 or more children to outsource operations to professional cleaning companies. Payments will be differentiated based on the total floor area and the status of auxiliary staff: over 200 pyeong (approximately 462 square meters) will receive 1.4 to 1.6 million KRW annually, under 200 pyeong will receive 1.2 to 1.4 million KRW, and under 100 pyeong will receive 1 million KRW.

Each daycare center can select one local company that is either registered as a cleaning business or has reported building hygiene management. The scope, duration, and methods of cleaning should be decided through consultation with the selected company according to the daycare center’s circumstances and conditions.

The district expects that this support project will improve the interior and exterior facilities of daycare centers, providing a safer childcare space for children. The district also plans to continuously expand regular internal cleaning through auxiliary staff, which has been previously promoted.

Mayor Park Il-ha said, “Since children spend a lot of time at daycare centers, creating a clean childcare space is of utmost importance,” adding, “We will strive to strengthen public childcare services so that parents and children can use daycare centers with peace of mind.”
