Despite the prolonged economic recession last year due to the triple high phenomena of high inflation, high interest rates, and high exchange rates, it was found that 8 out of 10 members of the National Assembly saw an increase in their assets.
According to the 2025 regular asset change report of National Assembly members disclosed on the 27th by the National Assembly Public Officials Ethics Committee, among the 299 members of the National Assembly as of December 31 last year, 231 members (77.3%) had increased assets compared to the previous year.
The proportion of members with increased assets in the 22nd National Assembly rose compared to 35.4% in the 21st National Assembly's 2025 asset report disclosed last March.

Among the 231 members whose assets increased, 162 members (70.1%) saw an increase of more than 100 million KRW. The largest group was those with an increase between 100 million KRW and less than 500 million KRW, totaling 149 members (64.5%), followed by 36 members (15.6%) with an increase of less than 50 million KRW. Those with an increase between 50 million KRW and less than 100 million KRW were 33 members (14.3%), and between 500 million KRW and less than 1 billion KRW were 12 members (5.2%).
Only one member, Park Jeong of the Democratic Party, reported an increase of more than 1 billion KRW. Reflecting increased deposits from building sale proceeds, rental income, and financial interest, Park reported assets of 36,035,714,000 KRW, an increase of 1,985,357,000 KRW compared to the previous year.
The second highest asset increase compared to the previous year was by Han Ki-ho of the People Power Party. Han reported an increase of 941,490,000 KRW, reflecting the rise in official prices due to the reconstruction of an apartment in Seocho-gu.
Following were Kim Han-gyu (Democratic Party, 797,844,000 KRW), Jeong Yeon-wook (People Power Party, 759,056,000 KRW), Lee Hae-sik (Democratic Party, 716,687,000 KRW), Park Joo-min (Democratic Party, 679,431,000 KRW), Kim Nam-geun (Democratic Party, 646,725,000 KRW), Choi Eun-seok (People Power Party, 627,392,000 KRW), Jin Jong-oh (People Power Party, 619,754,000 KRW), and Song Eon-seok (People Power Party, 608,183,000 KRW) in order of asset increase.
On the other hand, 68 members (22.7%) experienced a decrease in assets. Among them, 21 members (30.9%) had a decrease of less than 50 million KRW, 12 members (17.6%) between 50 million KRW and less than 100 million KRW, 19 members (27.9%) between 100 million KRW and less than 500 million KRW, 6 members (8.8%) between 500 million KRW and less than 1 billion KRW, and 10 members (14.7%) had a decrease of more than 1 billion KRW.
The member with the largest decrease in assets was Yoon Sang-hyun of the People Power Party. Due to a decrease in stock and other securities assets, Yoon reported assets of 17,721,055,000 KRW, down by 6,334,177,000 KRW compared to the previous year. Other members with decreased assets included Moon Jin-seok (Democratic Party, -5,389,365,000 KRW), Han Ji-a (People Power Party, -4,794,057,000 KRW), and Ahn Cheol-soo (People Power Party, -3,345,665,000 KRW).

By asset size, the largest group was 94 members (31.4%) holding between 1 billion KRW and less than 2 billion KRW. This was followed by 88 members (29.4%) with assets between 2 billion KRW and less than 5 billion KRW, 51 members (17.1%) between 500 million KRW and less than 1 billion KRW, 33 members (11.0%) with less than 500 million KRW, and 33 members (11.0%) with 5 billion KRW or more.
Ahn Cheol-soo of the People Power Party was again the member with the highest assets, as last year. Despite a loss of over 3.3 billion KRW due to a decline in the stock price of AhnLab shares he owns, Ahn reported assets of 136,789,820,000 KRW.
Following him were Park Deok-heum of the People Power Party with 53,532,060,000 KRW, Park Jeong of the Democratic Party, Baek Jong-heon (32,355,140,000 KRW), Ko Dong-jin (31,674,120,000 KRW), Kim Eun-hye (27,392,391,000 KRW), Seo Myeong-ok (25,517,014,000 KRW), Yoon Sang-hyun (17,721,055,000 KRW), Choi Eun-seok (11,643,933,000 KRW), and Jeong Jeom-sik (9,916,186,000 KRW) of the People Power Party ranked high in asset standings.
On the other hand, Jeong Jun-ho of the Democratic Party reported negative assets (-1,128,334,000 KRW) due to financial debts and ranked lowest. Besides Jeong, Lee Byung-jin (-904,580,000 KRW) and Jin Sun-mi (-860,684,000 KRW) of the Democratic Party also reported negative assets.
Mo Gyeong-jong (19,527,000 KRW), Cha Ji-ho (38,176,000 KRW) of the Democratic Party, Park Chung-kwon of the People Power Party with 55,503,000 KRW, and Han Chang-min of the Social Democratic Party with 77,896,000 KRW reported assets under 100 million KRW.
The average assets of National Assembly members were 3,277,233,000 KRW, a decrease compared to the average of 3,434,700,000 KRW reported in the 2024 asset report. By party, Democratic Party members averaged 1,987,791,000 KRW, People Power Party 5,641,732,000 KRW, the Party for National Innovation 1,759,418,000 KRW, and the Reform Party 2,831,358,000 KRW. Excluding the top two asset holders, Ahn Cheol-soo and Park Deok-heum, the average assets of the remaining 297 members were 2,658,580,000 KRW.
