Relief Supplies Such as Bottled Water and Cup Noodles Provided to Sister City Cheongsong-gun

Dongdaemun-gu (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) will provide relief supplies to Cheongsong-gun, its sister city, in response to the wildfire disaster that started on the 22nd of this month in Uiseong-gun, Gyeongbuk, and has spread to nearby areas such as Yeongdeok-gun and Cheongsong-gun.
Additionally, a joint memorial altar will be set up in the plaza in front of the district office to pray for the extinguishing of the wildfire and to commemorate the victims.
According to the Central Safety Countermeasures Headquarters and fire authorities, as of 3 PM on the 26th, the wildfire has resulted in a total of 20 deaths. In Cheongsong-gun, the district’s sister city, two elderly people in their 70s to 80s and one woman in her 60s have died, and the number of displaced persons and property damage is also severe.
In response to Cheongsong-gun’s request, the district has decided to urgently provide relief supplies worth approximately 3 million won, including bottled water and cup noodles. A district official stated, “We are continuously monitoring the situation in the affected areas and are closely watching whether the wildfire spreads to the nearby sister city, Sangju-si.”
Furthermore, from the 26th to the 30th, between 9 AM and 6 PM, a joint memorial altar will be operated at the Dongdaemun-gu Office plaza so that local residents can pray for the wildfire’s extinguishing and commemorate the victims.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “I sincerely hope that the wildfire will be quickly controlled so that nearby residents can restore their daily lives as soon as possible,” and added, “We will continue our ongoing cooperation and support for our sister city, Cheongsong-gun.”
