On the 26th, the Korea Polytechnics Semiconductor Convergence Campus held a 'Vision Proclamation Ceremony for the Semiconductor SoBuJang Realization Evaluation Testbed Construction Project' attended by Kim Bora, Mayor of Anseong, Yoon Jong-gun, Member of the National Assembly, Lim Chun-geon, Planning and Training Director of Korea Polytechnics, heads of major research institutes, and corporate officials.
This project is a follow-up to the designation of the Dongshin General Industrial Complex in Anseong as a 'Semiconductor SoBuJang Specialized Complex' by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy in 2023. The Dongshin Industrial Complex is planned to be developed over an area of 1.57 million square meters in Dongshin-ri, Bogae-myeon, Anseong City.
A total budget of 28.7 billion KRW will be invested in this testbed construction project, which aims to enhance the reliability of the domestic semiconductor SoBuJang industry and strengthen the supply chain by 2028.
The Semiconductor Convergence Campus will prepare dedicated spaces such as cleanrooms and joint research laboratories for the testbed construction and will establish 24 units of 20 types of core equipment for realization evaluation, analysis, and certification. The Korea Photonics Technology Institute and the Korea Chemical Convergence Testing Institute will jointly participate in the project, and Anseong City will also contribute part of the research and development funds, operating under an industry-government-academia-research cooperation system.
Based on cooperation among key stakeholders, the city plans to build a customized technology support system for companies to strengthen demand linkage in the SoBuJang industry and contribute to creating a domestic supply chain ecosystem.
A city official stated, "Taking this testbed construction initiative as an opportunity, we will implement comprehensive nurturing policies including technology development and workforce training for the advancement of the semiconductor industry."
