On the second day of the funeral for the late Han Jong-hee, Vice Chairman and CEO of Samsung Electronics (Head of the DX Division), on the 26th, condolences from various sectors continued to pour in.

Jang In-hwa, Chairman of POSCO Group, visited the funeral hall at Samsung Medical Center in Irwon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where Vice Chairman Han's wake was held, at around 10:17 a.m. and stayed for 20 minutes. At around 11:27 a.m., Ham Young-joo, Chairman of Hana Financial Group, paid his respects.


Former Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum visited the wake at 12:35 p.m. and said, "The deceased was a key figure who raised Korean industry on the ground, and I had the chance to meet him through various connections while he was in office. I came because I am deeply saddened by his sudden passing."


At around 3:30 p.m., Kwon Bong-seok, CEO of LG, who came to pay his respects, said, "The deceased devoted himself not only to Samsung Electronics but also to the development of the Korean electronics industry. Although it is a tragic event, I pray for his soul to rest in peace."

Tributes from current and former Samsung executives also continued. Yong Seok-woo, Head of the VD Division, visited the wake twice, at 9:15 a.m. and 3:26 p.m., and Roh Tae-moon, President of Samsung Electronics MX Division, also paid his respects at 11:41 a.m. Roh said, "I cannot contain my sorrow. Today, I will focus on attending the funeral and taking care of the bereaved family."


Han Seung, Head of Samsung Electronics Future Business Planning Group; Daniel Oh, Head of Samsung Electronics IR Team (Vice President); Park Soon-chul, Head of Management Support Office Support Team (Vice President); Kim Joon-sung, Outside Director; and Kim Ji-hyung, former Chairman of Samsung Compliance Committee, also visited the wake to pay their respects. At around 4:40 p.m., Kim Ki-nam, Advisor to Samsung Electronics, visited the wake. Jung Hyun-ho, Head of Samsung Electronics Business Support TF, paid tribute to the deceased after 9 p.m. the previous day.


Born in 1962, Vice Chairman Han was a recognized expert in TV development and a key figure who led Samsung Electronics' TV business to hold the world’s number one position for 19 consecutive years. He is also known as the "salaryman legend," having risen from a new employee to Vice Chairman and CEO.


He joined Samsung Electronics' Visual Display Business Division development team in 1988 and worked in the TV development department for over 30 years. Later, in March 2022, he was appointed CEO of Samsung Electronics, where he was praised for demonstrating outstanding management skills and leadership, leading the company through crises on a corporate-wide level.


Vice Chairman Han passed away suddenly on the 25th due to cardiac arrest while resting. The funeral procession will begin at 7:15 a.m. on the 27th, and the burial site is Sian Family Memorial Park.
