This export is part of a project to supply high-quality processed seafood products, made in the Tongyeong region using raw materials caught in Korea's clean waters, to H Mart in the United States. The first shipment has been successfully completed.

For this export, Tongyeong Nonghyup produced the products in compliance with food hygiene standards and U.S. local distribution regulations. Improved packaging with product images and English labeling was introduced, raising interest in 'K-Seafood.'

Hwang Cheoljin, head of Tongyeong Nonghyup, said, "I am delighted that our carefully prepared Gejang, made with crabs from our sea, will now be served on American dining tables," and added, "Tongyeong Nonghyup will continue to leverage the strengths of Tongyeong, a city of fisheries, and grow as Nonghyup's first seafood export platform."

This export is particularly significant as it marks the first time a local Nonghyup branch has pioneered the export of not only agricultural products but also processed seafood products. Going forward, Tongyeong Nonghyup plans to diversify export destinations, expand its product range based on local consumer feedback, and establish itself as a leading model for Nonghyup's 'local processed food globalization' initiative.

Ryu Gilnyeon, head of Gyeongnam Nonghyup, said, "We will strengthen support for local Nonghyup branches, build a support system through internal and external collaboration, and do our utmost to secure export competitiveness by expanding overseas market channels."
