287 Households for Heating, 261 Households for Cooling, and 3 Welfare Facilities to Benefit
Jeonju City in North Jeolla Province is planning to implement the "Energy Efficiency Improvement Project" to support the enhancement of building energy efficiency for low-income households and social welfare facilities that are vulnerable to energy welfare.
According to the city on the 26th, this project, overseen by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and managed by the Korea Energy Foundation, focuses on supporting building insulation construction and the replacement or installation of high-efficiency heating and cooling devices.
This year, the project will be divided into the "Heating Support Project," which supports insulation and flooring work, window replacement, and high-efficiency boiler replacement and new installation, and the "Cooling Support Project," which supports the replacement and new installation of high-efficiency (wall-mounted) air conditioners.
This year, the city plans to support a total project budget of 890 million KRW, benefiting 287 households for heating, 261 households for cooling, and 3 social welfare facilities.
Eligible applicants include basic livelihood recipients, the near-poor, households in welfare blind spots, and social welfare facilities. Applications can be submitted at the local community service centers.
Applications for cooling support are open until the 18th of next month, while applications for heating support are accepted until the allocated resources are exhausted. For social welfare facilities, the city will identify vulnerable facilities by the 18th of next month and accept applications until the end of next month.
Notably, starting this year, to improve beneficiary convenience and increase synergy between projects, applicants can apply for both the cooling and heating support projects during the cooling support application period.
Previously, since 2018, the city has received about 3.1 billion KRW in government support through this project, improving energy efficiency for a total of 1,180 households.
Kim Seongsu, head of the city's Architecture Division, said, "The Energy Efficiency Improvement Project is highly satisfactory to citizens as it contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing energy welfare by lowering energy consumption. We hope that energy-vulnerable households and welfare facilities in Jeonju will benefit greatly and be able to enjoy a cool summer and a warm winter."
