Crime Committed During Environmental Cleanup Near Baegun Station
Confessed at Police Station Immediately After the Incident
Police Investigating Type and Components of Insecticide
An employee of a cleaning service company was booked by the police for killing pigeons by spreading raw rice mixed with insecticide as it was considered a hindrance to cleaning.
On the 26th, the Bupyeong Police Station in Incheon announced that they had booked Mr. A, in his 50s, without detention for violating the Wildlife Protection and Management Act. Mr. A is suspected of killing 11 pigeons near Baegun Station on the Gyeongin National Railway (Seoul Subway Line 1) in Bupyeong-gu at around 7:10 a.m. on the 6th.
Mr. A, an employee of a certain cleaning service company, was investigated for mixing insecticide with rice and spreading it on the ground while performing environmental cleanup work around Baegun Station. He went to the police station immediately after the incident and confessed to the crime, stating in the investigation, "I made the pigeons eat the insecticide because they were interfering with the cleaning."
The police have requested a detailed analysis from the National Wildlife Disease Control Center to identify the type and components of the insecticide used by Mr. A in the crime. A police official said, "Based on the insecticide analysis results, we plan to send the case to the prosecution."
