Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters Meeting Held for Wildfire Prevention and Response in Goseong County.
Through this meeting, it was decided that until the wildfire crisis alert is adjusted, department heads from the main office will personally visit their assigned towns and villages to conduct wildfire prevention inspections. In particular, the county plans to carry out substantial preventive activities by focusing on inspections of households using wood-fired boilers in forest-adjacent areas and vulnerable groups susceptible to wildfires.
In addition, for the 335 households using wood-fired boilers in forest-adjacent areas, the county will distribute easy-to-use and proven fire suppression throwable extinguishers by the 28th, aiming to reduce disaster risks that may arise from these boilers.
Along with the issuance of the 'Severe' wildfire disaster crisis alert, emergency staffing at green parks and in towns and villages has been increased from one person to up to one-fourth of the current staff, and the working hours for wildfire monitors have been adjusted to run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
County Governor Lee Sanggeun emphasized, "Given the grave situation where large-scale wildfires are occurring simultaneously nationwide due to dry weather advisories and strong winds, I urge all administrative forces to be mobilized to establish and implement effective preventive measures and make Goseong County safe from wildfires."
