46th Business Restructuring Plan Deliberation Committee
8.681 Trillion KRW Investment and 1,390 New Hires Planned Over the Next Five Years
LG Display is expanding the application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in its production systems to enhance corporate competitiveness.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 26th that it held the 46th Business Restructuring Plan Deliberation Committee meeting in writing and approved the business restructuring plans of 24 companies, including Apro, Point Engineering, and LG Display. The approved companies plan to invest a total of 868.1 billion KRW and hire 1,390 new employees over the next five years to enter new business fields.
Kim Joo-hoon, a private member of the Deliberation Committee, stated, "Recently, there has been an increase in business restructuring plan applications from companies in new industries such as semiconductors, batteries, and software," adding, "To stay ahead in the advanced industry competition triggered by AI, our companies must accelerate the pace of business restructuring."
Apro plans to develop a charger that evaluates battery safety during electric vehicle charging, leveraging its accumulated technology in secondary battery equipment manufacturing. K&Y plans to develop a device that automatically opens to prevent fires when temperature or pressure rises inside the battery. Point Engineering will utilize its expertise in semiconductor equipment parts manufacturing to produce high-precision micro pins for semiconductor inspection, and LG Display will enhance corporate competitiveness by expanding the application of AI technology in its production systems.
An official from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said, "We will spare no effort in providing related support, including discovering additional incentives, so that companies can proactively promote business restructuring."
