Daejeon City announced that on the 25th, a city and district countermeasure meeting was held at the City Hall Disaster and Safety Situation Room, presided over by the Deputy Mayor for Administrative Affairs, to prepare for large-scale wildfires in the spring.

This meeting was convened to review wildfire prevention and response readiness, as large-scale wildfires have recently occurred simultaneously across the country and high temperatures and dry weather continue.

Daejeon City and its five autonomous districts are currently operating mobile inspection teams and village patrol squads, and are continuously conducting on-site inspections and resident outreach activities in wildfire-prone areas. They plan to further strengthen wildfire prevention efforts going forward.

Yoo Deukwon, Deputy Mayor for Administrative Affairs of Daejeon City, said, "Prevention is the most important factor when it comes to wildfires," and added, "Please reinforce public awareness campaigns to prevent activities that could cause fires in advance, such as carrying fire sources during grave visits or burning agricultural by-products."

He continued, "Thoroughly establish rapid evacuation measures for vulnerable groups such as residents of social welfare facilities, and make every effort to ensure the safety of wildfire monitors and on-site staff."
