Goyang-si Supports Cleaning Costs for Restaurants Designated with Hygiene Grades

Selection of 65 Establishments for On-site Cleaning Service
Up to 700,000 KRW in Support

Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 25th that it will promote the ‘2025 Cleaning Cost Support Project for Restaurants Designated with Hygiene Grades’ targeting restaurants designated with hygiene grades to improve the hygiene level of restaurants and create a safe dining environment.

The restaurant hygiene grading system is a restaurant certification system designated by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and has been implemented nationwide since May 2017 for general restaurants, snack bars, and bakeries. After evaluation of 44 items in 3 categories, grades are assigned in three levels: ‘Excellent’, ‘Good’, and ‘Fair’.

This project targets establishments that have been designated with a restaurant hygiene grade for more than one year. Sixty-five establishments will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis through the submission of applications and required documents.

For the selected establishments, a cleaning company contracted with Goyang City will visit and provide cleaning services up to 700,000 KRW, including floors, walls, ceilings, and kitchen facilities (ventilators, ducts, hoods, etc.).

An official from the Food Safety Division of Goyang City stated, “We expect that supporting cleaning costs for restaurants designated with hygiene grades will help create a trustworthy dining environment and prevent foodborne illnesses and other food-related accidents.”
