On the 25th, the People Power Party nominated four-term lawmaker Yoon Young-seok (Gyeongnam Yangsan-gap) as the chairman of the National Assembly's Pension Reform Special Committee, which is allocated to the ruling party.

Park Hyung-soo, the senior deputy floor leader of the People Power Party, held a 'briefing on the National Assembly special committee appointments' at the National Assembly in the afternoon and announced that Yoon was nominated as the chairman of the Pension Special Committee, and Kim Mi-ae, the ruling party secretary of the National Assembly's Health and Welfare Committee, was nominated as the ruling party secretary.

The Pension Reform Special Committee will address the introduction of an automatic adjustment mechanism, which was not concluded due to focusing on parametric reform, and structural reforms encompassing the entire pension system including national, basic, retirement, and individual pensions.

Regarding Yoon, Park introduced him as "a four-term lawmaker with extensive experience who previously served as the chairman of the National Assembly's Planning and Finance Committee," and said, "Among the senior lawmakers, he was judged to have expertise in pension reform."

Committee members appointed include Park Soo-min, Kim Jae-seop, Woo Jae-joon, and Kim Yong-tae. Park said, "As I mentioned this morning, the People Power Party placed many young lawmakers in their 30s and 40s on the special committee, and as announced, excluding the chairman, three out of five members are from the 30s and 40s age group."

The three members Park referred to are Kim Jae-seop, Woo Jae-joon, and Kim Yong-tae. Kim Jae-seop was born in 1987, Woo Jae-joon in 1988, and Kim Yong-tae in 1990, all in their 30s.

They voted against the amendment to the National Pension Act, which was submitted to the plenary session of the National Assembly on the 20th, and held a press conference criticizing the recent bipartisan agreement along with young lawmakers from the Democratic Party of Korea and the Reform New Party.

On the other hand, Yoon, born in 1965 and serving as chairman, Kim Mi-ae, born in 1969 and appointed as the People Power Party secretary, and Park Soo-min, born in 1967 and a committee member, voted in favor at the plenary session.

Park requested, "We ask the Democratic Party of Korea to cooperate so that many young lawmakers in their 30s and 40s participate in the special committee, just like our party, to ensure that the younger generation is well represented in the committee."

Kim Ki-hyun, a five-term lawmaker (Ulsan Nam-eul), was nominated as chairman of the National Assembly's APEC Special Committee to support the successful hosting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit to be held in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk, in October. Three-term lawmaker Lee Man-hee was appointed secretary, and second-term lawmakers Lee In-seon, Jo Jeong-hoon, Kim Hyung-dong, and first-term lawmakers Lee Dal-hee and Yoo Young-ha will serve as members.

Park said, "The APEC summit will be held in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region," and explained, "Kim Seok-ki (Gyeongbuk Gyeongju), who is the chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, was not suitable to concurrently serve as chairman," and introduced Kim Ki-hyun, who is also the party leader and has experience and seniority, as the chairman of the APEC Special Committee.

In the National Assembly Climate Special Committee, chaired by the Democratic Party of Korea, three-term lawmaker Im Yi-ja (Gyeongbuk Sangju-Mungyeong) was nominated as secretary. Four-term lawmaker Lee Heon-seung, second-term lawmakers Jo Eun-hee and Seo Beom-su, and first-term lawmakers Kim So-hee, Jo Ji-yeon, and Kim Yong-tae will serve as committee members.
