Han Duck-soo, Acting President and Prime Minister, has formed an 'Economic Security Strategy Task Force (TF)' to directly respond to the US-originated 'tariff war.'


On the morning of the 25th, Acting President Han held a meeting of trade-related ministers at the Government Seoul Office and decided to reorganize the 'Foreign Economic Issues Meeting,' which had been chaired by Choi Sang-mok, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, into the 'Economic Security Strategy TF' chaired by himself.

The TF will enhance the ability to respond to increasing external uncertainties such as the US government's tariff policies and strengthen the linkage between trade and security issues.


Additionally, Acting President Han decided to strengthen the public-private joint response system to enable close communication with major companies that could be significantly affected by changes in the US trade environment.


Acting President Han said, "It is time to pour all government and private sector capabilities into securing our national interests in the trade war that has already become a reality," urging thorough inspection and response to the US reciprocal tariff policy announcement scheduled for the 2nd of next month.


Attending the trade-related ministers' meeting held that day were Deputy Prime Minister Choi, Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yeol, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Ahn Duk-geun, Minister of Science and ICT Yoo Sang-im, Director of the Office for Government Policy Coordination Bang Ki-seon, Policy Chief of the Presidential Secretariat Sung Tae-yoon, and Director of the National Security Office of the Presidential Office Shin Won-sik.
