"Criminal charges substantiated, risk of flight"
Arrest warrant reapplied: injury resulting in death changed to murder
Suspect denies charges... detailed investigation to follow
A woman in her 50s has been arrested on suspicion of murdering her husband, a real estate instructor famous for his alcohol bottles.
On the 24th, the Pyeongtaek Branch of Suwon District Court (Chief Judge Kim Daehyun in charge of warrants) conducted a pre-arrest interrogation (warrant review) for suspect A, who is accused of murder, and subsequently issued an arrest warrant. Chief Judge Kim explained the reason for issuing the warrant, stating, "The criminal charges have been substantiated, and there is a risk of evidence tampering and flight."
A is suspected of killing her husband B by repeatedly hitting his head with a damgeumju bottle at around 3 a.m. on the 15th of last month in an apartment in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, where they lived. Initially, the police viewed the incident as an accidental crime that occurred during a marital dispute and applied charges of injury resulting in death, requesting an arrest warrant, but the court dismissed the warrant.
Subsequently, based on the state of B’s bloodstains and other evidence, the police concluded that A suddenly attacked B while he was lying down, changing the charges from injury resulting in death to murder and reapplying for an arrest warrant. B is a well-known real estate instructor, and A is reported to be denying the charges. The police plan to investigate the detailed circumstances of the case with A.
