Operation of Mobile Healthcare and Moonlight Exercise Classes
From Remote Health Management to Community-Based Physical Activities
Gwangju Buk-gu is set to launch a community-based health management project that combines digital technology and resident participation. On the 25th, Buk-gu announced that it will begin operating the "Mobile Healthcare Service" and "Healthy Buk-gu! Moonlight Exercise Class" from this month, helping residents easily manage their health in daily life.
This project, designed to prevent metabolic syndrome caused by modern irregular eating habits and lack of exercise, consists of non-face-to-face health management using digital devices and a community-based physical activity program.
The "Mobile Healthcare Service" is a program that allows participants to check their health information, receive personalized counseling, and complete exercise missions using smartphone apps and smart bands, without needing to visit a health center. Because it can be accessed anytime and anywhere, it has received a positive response from residents with busy schedules.
This year, Buk-gu will recruit the first 100 adults aged 19 to 64 who live or work in the district and have at least one health risk factor such as high blood pressure, fasting blood sugar, waist circumference, triglycerides, or HDL cholesterol, until the 28th. Participants will receive personalized health counseling, exercise and nutrition education, and physical activity missions for six months. At the end of the program, their progress will be evaluated through health checkups and comprehensive counseling.
Additionally, the nighttime physical activity program "Healthy Buk-gu! Moonlight Exercise Class" has also officially begun. This program is held in popular walking areas and is open to everyone. It takes place at six locations: Gwangju History and Folklore Museum Plaza (Yongbong-dong), Munhwa Neighborhood Park (Munheung-dong), Gajak Children's Park (Samgak-dong), Sandonggyo Riverside Park (Dongnim-dong), Sihwa Culture Village Plaza (Gakhwa-dong), and Cheonbyeon Dumulmeori (Im-dong). Until November 14, aerobic exercise, health gymnastics, and power walking will be offered every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:30 p.m. for one hour under the guidance of professional instructors.
District Mayor Moon In said, "I hope this project will help residents who often neglect their health due to busy daily lives to manage their own well-being and lead more vibrant lives. We will continue to faithfully serve as guardians of residents' health through a variety of health promotion programs in the future."
