The Key Figure Behind Samsung's Global No.1 TV Business
Han Jong-hee, Vice Chairman and CEO of Samsung Electronics, passed away on the 25th at the age of 63.
According to the business community, Vice Chairman Han died suddenly from cardiac arrest while resting.
Born in 1962, Han was a recognized expert in TV development. He was the key figure behind Samsung Electronics' 19 consecutive years as the world's number one in the TV business. He graduated from Cheonan High School and Inha University with a degree in Electronic Engineering, and joined Samsung Electronics' Visual Display Business Division development team in 1988. He served as head of the LCD TV lab, development group leader, and product development team leader, before becoming head of the Visual Display Business Division (President) in 2017.
In the personnel reshuffle at the end of 2021, he was promoted to Vice Chairman and took charge of the Device Experience (DX) division, overseeing set business. He led technological innovation across various product fields including TVs, home appliances, and smartphones, driving the development of the domestic and international electronics industry.
