Calls for Investment in LNG Project with Japan and Taiwan Participation
Individual Negotiations with Companies Expected After Meetings with Government Officials

Mike Dunleavy, Governor of Alaska, USA, is visiting Korea to meet with senior government officials and top executives of major domestic companies such as SK Group. He is expected to urge Korean investment participation in the Alaska liquefied natural gas (LNG) project promoted by the Trump administration.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM) announced that it will host Governor Dunleavy's official visit to Korea over two days, from the 25th to the 26th. The delegation led by Governor Dunleavy will meet with senior officials from the Korean government and businesses to discuss ways to strengthen Korea-US economic cooperation and strategic partnerships.

AMCHAM arranged meetings between Governor Dunleavy and Acting President and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Ahn Duk-geun, and Joseph Yun, Charg? d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Korea, as part of its role as a bridge connecting the two economies. Additionally, top executives from major companies such as SK Group, POSCO Group, Hanwha Group, and SeAH Group will separately meet with Governor Dunleavy during his visit to exchange views.

Accompanying Governor Dunleavy on his visit are representatives from Glenfarne Group, a partner in the Alaska LNG project, and the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation (AGDC). According to AMCHAM, they plan to discuss ways to expand energy cooperation between the two countries. The delegation also plans to meet with Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon and Korea Gas Corporation President Choi Yeon-hye to discuss the importance of Korea-US economic cooperation.

AMCHAM emphasized that Governor Dunleavy's visit aligns with the 'Buy America' campaign, highlighting the competitiveness of American products and services to promote trade expansion between the two countries. In particular, since strategic discussions with major domestic companies will focus on key industries such as energy and infrastructure, practical outcomes such as increased investment and strengthened supply chain cooperation are expected.

James Kim, Chairman and CEO of AMCHAM, stated, "Governor Dunleavy's visit will be a meaningful opportunity for Korea and the US to jointly explore deep economic cooperation and new growth opportunities," adding, "AMCHAM will support Korea in establishing itself as a global business hub through various initiatives."
