Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will create the Choansan Hydrangea Hill as a nighttime scenic spot to provide attractions for visitors who come at night.

'Choansan Hydrangea Hill' is an ecological park created by restoring forestland that had been damaged by garbage dumping and illegal farming. Centered around approximately 11,000 hydrangea plants of 19 species, it features various facilities such as natural streams and waterfalls, ecological ponds, and picnic areas, which are greatly loved by the residents.

In particular, residents of Wolgye 2-dong, where the park is located, have expressed the greatest satisfaction with the creation of the Hydrangea Hill. The number of users has been steadily increasing, including visitors who enjoy night walks to escape the summer heat as well as during the spring when outdoor activities increase.

Recently, residents requested additional seasonal attractions even during periods when the hydrangeas are not in bloom. This reflects their hope that the Hydrangea Hill, which is seeing an increase in nighttime visitors, will fully establish itself as a healing hub in the Wolgye area.

Accordingly, the district decided to promote a nighttime landscape improvement project to enhance the safety of nighttime visitors and transform the existing natural attraction into a nighttime scenic spot with lighting-based attractions.

This project, themed "A Walk Under the Starlight," was carried out focusing on the main routes with high visitor usage. The section prioritized this time is the picnic area located at the upper part of the Hydrangea Hill. This area is a cluster of king cherry trees, and the district began landscape improvements in time for the upcoming cherry blossom season.

The design of the landscape lighting employed environmentally friendly techniques such as low lighting to prevent light pollution, and used energy-efficient LED products to ensure long-term stable operation and management.

First, the 'laser lighting' installed above the cherry trees creates an image of fireflies flickering on the branches, presenting a splendid spectacle of light that seems to envelop the space.

The 'wave ripple lighting' installed together expresses the rhythm of nature with light flowing like gentle waves. Additionally, the 'line bar lighting' installed along the railing harmonizes with soft lines, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere under the dark night sky.

Through this project, 'Choansan Hydrangea Hill' is expected to emerge as a destination people want to visit not only during the day but also at night. Visitors will be able to enjoy a special time with nature under the shining lights along the walking paths.

The district plans to provide residents, weary from daily life, with rich cultural enjoyment opportunities by hosting various cultural and artistic performances such as small-scale concerts, taking advantage of the natural environment of Choansan Hydrangea Hill.

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, “Through this landscape improvement project, I hope Choansan Hydrangea Hill will establish itself as a place where people want to stay even at night,” and added, “We will continue to promote eco-friendly landscape creation that coexists with nature, like Choansan Hydrangea Hill, which embodies seasonal themes throughout the year.”
