'Live Swearing' Show Host Jeong Yoon-jeong Returns via NS Home Shopping

Appears as a Guest on NS Home Shopping Cosmetics Broadcast

Host Jung Yoon-jung, who caused controversy by using profanity during a live TV home shopping broadcast, has made a comeback through NS Home Shopping.

According to industry sources on the 24th, Jung appeared on the NS Home Shopping broadcast selling 'The Mercure' cosmetics at 7:35 PM on the 21st. This appearance was not through a direct contract with NS Home Shopping but as a guest via a contract with the cosmetics manufacturer. Jung holds the position of vice president at this cosmetics company.

Previously, on January 28, 2023, during a Hyundai Home Shopping broadcast selling cosmetics, Jung caused controversy by saying, "XX, I was planning to go out," using profanity. At the time, Jung expressed dissatisfaction because the product being sold was sold out, but the broadcast could not be ended early.

During the broadcast, viewers protested in real-time and the production team requested corrections, but Jung downplayed the issue, saying, "I sometimes use inappropriate language during broadcasts, and I apologize, but please see it as entertainment. Can't home shopping enter the era of entertainment?" which further fueled the controversy.

As a result, Hyundai Home Shopping received a legal sanction decision from the Korea Communications Standards Commission and imposed an indefinite ban on Jung's appearances on its home shopping broadcasts. This was the first time in the industry that a broadcast ban was imposed on a specific host or brand guest. Essentially, Jung was expelled from the industry.

Later that year in October, Jung attempted to return as a guest through a partner company on NS Home Shopping, but the attempt was thwarted due to strong negative public opinion. At that time, Ryu Hee-rim, chairman of the Korea Communications Standards Commission, publicly stated, "We need to deeply consider how consumers would feel about giving a home shopping broadcast opportunity again through a loophole less than six months after sanctions were imposed on a host who caused major social controversy."

An NS Home Shopping official explained regarding Jung's recent appearance, "We prioritize customer trust as our highest value and strictly adhere to broadcasting ethics. This decision to allow her appearance was made after thorough internal review, and we will make every effort to maintain customer trust during the broadcast."

Meanwhile, Jung previously appeared on various home shopping channels and wielded considerable influence, earning nicknames such as 'Sold-Out Queen' and '100 Million Won per Minute Woman.' She was also known as the highest-paid star host in the industry at the time.
