Following the declaration of Sancheong-gun in Gyeongnam as a special disaster zone on the 22nd, the government added these three regions. Due to the large-scale forest loss and the occurrence of displaced persons in these areas, the government judged that swift recovery efforts and victim support at the national level are necessary.
Once declared a special disaster zone, multi-ministerial measures, including victim support, will be implemented according to relevant laws.
The government plans to establish a recovery plan through a joint damage survey and promptly finalize specific support measures after a meeting of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.
Han Deok-soo, Acting President and Prime Minister, stated, "The wildfire has not yet been fully extinguished, so ensuring the safety of firefighting personnel and alleviating the inconveniences of displaced residents who have lost their homes will be our top priorities."
He added, "The government will spare no administrative and financial support for damage recovery and restoration after the wildfire is fully controlled."
